Maria Saylawala: It has always been my dream to go and study art in university. I love making art, studying it, and viewing it. Most of my work is abstract because I believe it stirs up more feeling from whoever is viewing it. I also enjoy drawing and copying works of other artists, or things I see, because I can add my own touch to it. (One of the pieces I have included is one I created by re-creating another artist’s drawing, the last nude woman.) I want to attend your school because it would help me achieve my dream of earning a bachelor in fine arts which will help me in becoming a teacher; and eventually opening an after school program for all ages to make art. I want to open up this center because many people forget how important it is to continue making art for their happiness when life gets too busy. I know that your fine arts program will teach me so much and really help me grow as an artist. The location of the school is perfect for a growing artist, it is a lively area. It has the perfect atmosphere to inspire. I really want to make a difference in the world and in people’s lives with my art; I know that Manchester Metropolitan University will help me do that.
